26 • RETROFIT AUSTRALIA • VOLUME 3 NUMBER 1 2014 | Accreditation CERTIFICATION SCHEME FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPLEMENTATION PROFESSIONALS LAUNCHES The Energy Efficiency Council's recent national conference hosted the launch of the Energy Efficiency Certification Scheme, a new certification program for the individuals that lead and manage comprehensive energy retrofits of commercial buildings. The launch was the culmination of a three-year process of consultation and design that captured the views of industry experts, governments and the property sector. The new Scheme: • identifies industry leaders in the delivery of comprehensive energy retrofits of commercial buildings • provides a benchmark for aspiring energy efficiency professionals who wish to develop their skills • allows commercial building owners and managers to identify industry professionals with the right expertise. Assessment criteria were developed by senior professionals from across the industry who have significant experience implementing energy retrofits of commercial buildings. The Scheme is operated by the Energy Efficiency Council on behalf of the sector. It was designed under the supervision of an independent steering committee made up of The Energy Efficiency Certification Scheme policy, signed by Rob Thomson (right) on behalf of the EEC Board, and Ben Samways (left) on behalf of the independent Steering Committee, at the EEC National Conference, 4th December 2013.
